Police officers from around the area show support for fallen Huber Heights sergeant (WKEF/WRGT)

HUBER HEIGHTS, Ohio (WKEF/WRGT) - Police officers from around the Miami Valley showed their support for a Huber Heights police sergeant laid to rest Monday.

Sgt. Frank Crouse died unexpectedly last week after serving with the department since June of 2001. The department said he was a "great friend to many", and that they'll miss him and his "sense of humor and ability to make people smile." Sgt. Crouse was also a U.S. Army veteran.

A funeral service for the sergeant was held at Kindred Funeral Home Monday morning with a special procession afterward. An internment with military honors was held at Polk Grove Cemetery in Butler Township.

Officers with Huber Heights police wore a mourning band over their badge, and all flags flew at half-staff until he was laid to rest.
