Woman hit and killed along N. Gettysburg in Dayton identified
DAYTON, Ohio (WKEF/WRGT) - A woman has died after being hit by a car in Dayton.
According to the Montgomery County Coroner's office, the woman has been identified as Shevanne Francis, 59, of Dayton. Evans was hit just outside a Shell gas station in the area of Free Pike and Gettysburg Avenue.
Dayton Police say the driver suspected of hitting Evans was trying to make a right turn onto North Gettysburg Avenue. Evans was walking across the street in the crosswalk and had the "walk" sign when she was hit. After the crash, police say the driver left the scene but was found a short time later.
The crash shut the area down as emergency crew responded. At this time, the suspected driver is not in police custody as the investigation continues.
