Ohio AG gives tips on how to avoid scams after severe storms
MIAMI VALLEY, Ohio (WKEF/WRGT) – Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine has a scam warning after all the stormy weather passed through and caused power outages and damaged property.
He’s warning Ohioans to be on the lookout for anything that sounds fishy.
That may include contractors who show up suddenly after a storm or contractors who have no reputation or a poor reputation.
Another warning sign may be if the contractor requests a large upfront payment, or asks for your insurance settlement check.
