Officers from around Greene County help get kids in need shoes for the winter
XENIA, Ohio (WKEF/WRGT) – Members of the Greene County Fraternal Order of Police and the public teamed up to help kids keep their feet warm this winter.
For the 70th year, schools selected children that need shoes for the season and turned the list over to the FOP. Officers then volunteer their time to help the kids pick out their favorite pair of shoes.
“As I go through and watch the officers do this,” Xenia Police Captain Alonzo Wilson said, “I’m not sure who’s having more fun: the kids of the officers actually assisting the kids. So it’s something we look forward to doing every year. It’s another way we can help out. We just enjoy doing and helping out the kids in the community.”
Multiple departments from around the area stepped up, including officers from Xenia, Greene County, Bellbrook and Sugarcreek.
Captain Wilson also said he wants to thank the public for all their donations.
