Mirrah Image Salon donating back to school supplies to needy kids
DAYTON, Ohio (WKEF/WRGT)- Jonyell Webb opened Mirrah Image Salon a little over a year ago after dreaming about owning her own salon for more than a decade. She says the community has helped grow her business each month.
"Actually we have. We get quite a few walk-ins, our stylists are growing, so that's a plus," Webb said.
Webb wants to make sure all the kids in her neighborhood are ready to go back to school. On Monday, she's doing a back to school blowout from 8 am until 4 pm at the salon in the Westown Plaza.
"They will come in and receive haircuts, hairstyles, shampoos and hairstyles, polish changes as well as, we have food and snacks and book bags with the essentials for the first day of school," Webb said.
The stylists we talked with say they're excited to give back and help out the kids.
"I thought it would be awesome. I was a part of one previously, so I know what an impact it can have on a community. So it made me excited and I was just glad to help and jump on board so we can do as many kids as possible," Sh'ron Henderson, a stylist at the salon said.
Webb says the community supported her and her business so she wants to give back.
"I know what it's like to have a little and I know what it’s like to have a lot so just being able to give back is really nice," Webb said.
Webb says they're still looking for donations and stylists for the day so if you're interested go to our website and we'll show you how you can help out.
"We're still taking donations for school supplies, backpacks, we actually have a couple people who donated food. So we just want to make sure that again everyone who comes through we can defiantly put something in their hands and that they'll be happy when they head out," Webb said.
Webb says they are accepting a five-dollar donation, but won't turn anyone away if they don't have it.
