Former Miamisburg teacher charged with having sexual relationship with 14-yr-old
DAYTON, Ohio (WKEF/WRGT) - A former teacher at Miamisburg Middle School has been charged in Montgomery County with having a sexual relationship with a 14-year-old student.
Jessica S. Langford, 32, of Centerville has been indicted on three counts of Unlawful Sexual Conduct with a Minor and three counts of Sexual Battery as a teacher. Authorities say the alleged inappropriate sexual conduct took place during the last week of school, May 23, 2017. The victim told authorities about it and that's when the investigation began.
Miamisburg City Schools Superintendent Dr. David Vail sent the following statement to FOX 45:
We became aware of a possible incident of misconduct during the last couple of days of the 2016-2017 school year. We immediately put her on paid administrative leave so we could investigate. At that time, she resigned her position, which mandated us to report her to the Ohio Department of Education Office of Teacher Conduct. From that point forward, we cooperated with the Miami Township Police Department and their investigation of the matter.
We were just informed today of the findings from the grand jury against this former employee. We will continue to work with the local authorities and the prosecutor with this case.
Langford is set to be arraigned on Tuesday, November 28 at 8:30.
"Far too often we are hearing of people in trusting positions abusing their power," Montgomery County Prosecutor Mat Heck Jr. said, "This teacher violated her position of trust and authority by engaging in a relationship and abusing a minor student."
