Miami Valley leaders gather to address importance of community development funding sources
MIAMI VALLEY, Ohio (WKEF/WRGT) – Local government and community leaders stressed the importance of community development funding sources April 20.
They sat down to say the funds for development have experienced significant cuts over the past few years, and they are now at the risk of elimination,
City leaders told FOX 45 the programs are critical to healthy development.
“We need this funding to continue to help our seniors and stabilize our neighborhoods so they can change life for the better,” Kettering Mayor Don Patterson said.
“We really can’t do what we do without this money,” Dayton Commissioner Dan Foley said. “Whether it’s the city of Kettering, Montgomery County, or the city of Dayton, or the city of Fairborn, this is really kind of the glue that helps some projects happen.”
Leaders also said the funding is necessary for improving housing conditions, supporting the Miami Valley Fair Housing Center and helping local businesses grow and create jobs.
