Miami Valley kids get to Shop with a Hero
DAYTON, Ohio (WKEF/WRGT) – Kids and police officers shopped together on Monday for the Shop with a Hero event at Meijer.
Thirty-five kids received about $150 each to go shopping with local police officers who volunteered their time to escort the kids around the store.
Police Chief Ronald Hess said it’s important an important event for the community.
“It gets to community relations with the public community oriented policing and getting our officers that run across these kids during the year and get to know them and get to help them at the end of the year,” said Chief Hess.
Officers from Germantown, German Township, Moraine, Miamisburg, Miami Township, West Carrollton, and the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office came out for the event.
