Memorial held for Vandalia School Board President Sucher at Butler High School
VANDALIA, Ohio (WKEF/WRGT) – The family of Vandalia School Board President Bruce Sucher were surrounded by friends and family at the Butler High School Performing Arts Theater for his viewing March 16.
Sucher suddenly passed away at the age of 70 March 10 while he was in Pittsburgh watching the University of Dayton Flyers play in the Atlantic 10 tournament.
He was very well known in Vandalia, once serving as police chief and city manager. In 2013, he was elected to the Vandalia-Butler Board of Education, and was serving as president at the time of his passing. Sucher’s primary mission was to be an advocate and ambassador for anything that would better represent his community.
Sucher was also an avid Flyer fan, treasured travelling with his family and was most proud of his accomplishment in bringing the Vandalia Recreation Center to Life.
The public viewing ran from 4 – 7 p.m. at the theater, and a memorial service will be held in his honor March 17 at 10:30 a.m. at the Christian Life Center on Little York Road.
