UPDATE: Bond set for man accused of firing shots during standoff in Trotwood
UPDATE: The bond has been set for William Gibson, the man accused of firing shots during a Trotwood standoff Friday, October 13.
Gibson was given $1.5 Million dollars bond ahead of his first court hearing Monday, October 16. He is facing several counts of Felonious Assault charges in addition to weapons charges and Domestic Violence connected to the October 19 incident.
UPDATE: Trotwood police said a 2 ½ hour standoff situation began with a call of an accidental shooting.
Trotwood Fire and Rescue responded to a residence in the area of Wolf Creek Pike and Little Richmond Road at 11:30 a.m. and found a woman in the front yard with a gunshot wound. While they were treating her, a man reportedly came out of the residence and said they had one minute to clear off or he would start shooting.
Crews were able to get off the property with the woman, but said the suspect opened fire inside the house. At that point, a 99, or officer call for assistance, was issued so multiple agencies would respond to the location. Montgomery County and Dayton SWAT were among the teams to respond, and they began negotiations with the suspect.
Around 2 p.m., the team was able to get him to willingly walk out of the house and SWAT took him into custody.
During the incident, Trotwood police said the suspect fired several shots out of a window of the residence. They also said they found multiple weapons inside, including rifles and handguns, but have not said exactly how many were there.
FOX 45's Rhonda Moore spoke with the family of the man, who identified him as 42-year-old William Gibson.
Charges are still pending in the case.
