Hundreds of families pick up fresh produce in Preble County
PREBLE COUNTY, Ohio (WKEF/WRGT) – Hundreds of families have some fresh produce to prepare for dinner Friday night thanks to Carefource and The Foodbank.
The two organizations teamed up to pass out the food at the Preble County Fairgrounds. It marked the third annual mass distribution in the country.
More than 200 families lined up to grab their fresh fruits and vegetables.
“We had our first person here at 3:15 a.m.,” community relations manager for Caresource Brad Roediger said. “They were excited, they were hungry, there were here waiting.”
Every year, Caresource and The Foodbank team up to put on the events in Preble, Greene and Montgomery counties. Their next event is planned for August 11 at the Nutter Center for people in Greene County.
Families do need to meet certain income criteria to participate.
