DAYTON, Ohio (WKEF/WRGT) - The Miami Conservancy District is making repairs to a stone wall along the levee near the great Miami River trail, and want to advise trail users to use special caution near RiverScape Metro Park.

The wall that dates back to the 1890s is behind the Dayton fire station at Main Street and Monument Avenue, and is reportedly bulging. A concrete retaining wall built behind the stone wall is unstable and putting pressure on it, causing it to stick out.

Crews will remove blocks of stone from a section of the wall, install foundation anchors through the concrete retaining wall, install a drainage system between the two walls and replace the stone blocks in the wall.

The trail is expected to remain open during construction, which should take about two months.
