Franklin Township trustees still searching for new home for Robert E. Lee monument
FRANKLIN TWP, Ohio (WKEF/WRGT) – The Franklin Township trustees continued their search to find a new home for a Robert E. Lee monument Thursday night.
The council discussed where the monument would soon end up at their meeting, but Trustee Brian Morris said there are a lot of factors that go into the new placement.
Things like security are considered, along with how visible the monument will be from the Dixie Highway.
They are also considering how to balance supporting the wishes of the people in the community so that it won’t cause any more problems.
Once they find a place on private property to put it, a security camera will be installed nearby so the monument can be monitored.
It was originally removed from the first location along Dixie Highway when the city of Franklin said it was a safety issue in the right of way.
