First wave of Good Sam closures comes to an end
DAYTON, Ohio (WKEF/WRGT) - Good Samaritan Hospital permanently closed its Family Birthing Center on Sunday.
The closure was part of the first wave of service transfers since Premier Health announced they would be closing the hospital back in January.
The gynecological procedures moved to Miami Valley Hospital last Monday.
Miami Valley Hospital reopened its doors to the Berry 1 unit to help make the transition smoother.
FOX 45 recieved a statement from Premier Health on Sunday, saying that patients also had the choice to deliver at at Miami Valley Hospital South.
The statement made note of facilities and programs that are not affected by the closure of Good Sam's gynecology and maternity services:
- Existing OB/GYN practice offices
- Premier Physician Network's Lifestages Centers for Women
- CenteringPregnancy program Mothers Empowered
- Five Rivers Family Health
Premier said the transition will pick up over the next several months.
The hospital is referring everyone to their Good Samaritan Hospital transition website for most recent updates and changes to programs and services as they prepare to close the doors.
