Dive into the history of funk music at Dayton’s new funk center (WKEF/WRGT)

DAYTON, Ohio (WKEF/WRGT) - If you want to dive into the land of funk in Downtown Dayton, now you can.

The Funk Center on East Third Street is open for business.

The Funk Hall of Fame and Exhibition Center features many group, including those that hail from the Gem City such as the Ohio Players.

You can make an appointment to visit the center, which is sure to take you back in time.

“See the Ohio Players exhibit, see where Leroy "Sugarfoot" Bonner wore his outfits, Greg Webster, so many outfits that people wore,” says David R. Webb, founder and CEO of The Funk Center. “Back then it was exciting in the 70’s and 80’s.”

The museum’s founder says the goal is to educate the public’s knowledge in the history of funk music.

The center plans to have a grand opening later this winter.
