DAYTON, Ohio (WKEF/WRGT) - Dayton police say they're investigating after a woman called 911 this morning saying a man had tried to kidnap her mother.

The call came in just after 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 19 in the 800 block of Huffman Avenue and was originally reported as a burglary, but was updated to an attempted abduction.

In a 911 call, the woman told dispatchers she didn't know who the man was, "I heard my mom screaming and I ran out of the house and I did grab my knife," the caller said. The woman told the dispatcher the man took her knife after she "poked" him with it, then drove off in a red van toward downtown. The woman told the dispatcher no one in the home was hurt.

This is a developing story and will be updated.
