DAYTON, Ohio (WKEF/WRGT) - A 28-year-old Dayton man was sentenced to 10 1/2 years in prison for causing severe burns to his girlfriend's 23-month-old child.

William Clifton McKinney Lindsey found guilty of one count of felonious assault, two counts of endangering children and one count of tampering with evidence.

Officials said the toddler was taken to Dayton Children's Hospital South in April 2017 with severe burns, and had to be transported by Careflight to Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus. The boy reportedly had life-threatening burns over 90 percent of his body.

Lindsey had been watching the child when the injuries occurred. The child's mother, and Lindsey's girlfriend, was reportedly at a medical appointment at the time.
