Dayton Intl. Airport K-9 receives bullet-proof vest thanks to local company
DAYTON, Ohio (WKEF/WRGT) - Gunner, a K-9 at the Dayton International Airport now has a new tool to keep him safe on the job.
Thanks to Globe Food Equipment in Moraine, Gunner now has a bullet-proof protective vest.
Gunner has been on duty at the airport since 2016 and partners with the certified explosive detection team. Employees at Globe Food Equipment contributed and the Ohio Law Enforcement K-9 Association, K-9 Vesting and First Aid matched the donation.
Three officer and K-9 teams work at the airport assisting with security there and for other jurisdictions. Before going on duty at the airport, dogs go through 10 weeks of training at Lackland AFB in Texas.
This isn't the first time employees at Globe Food Equipment have helped out K-9s at the airport. In the past, employees raised money for a vest for K-9 Fara.
