Coming in 2018: Construction begins on Levitt Pavilion Dayton
DAYTON, Ohio (WKEF/WRGT) - Levitt Pavilion Dayton has officially said it is coming in 2018.
Friends of Levitt Pavilion Dayton announced Thursday that Shook Construction has been selected as general contractor for the project, and construction is set to begin in December.
“We are excited to be moving into this next phase of the project," board chair for the Friends of Levitt Dayton Jeff Ireland said, "and closer to realizing the goal of creating and building a community asset to bring the Dayton region together one free concert at a time.”
The organization is working with Dayton and the Dayton-Montgomery County Port Authority to manage the construction effort and stay within the budget of $5 million. Officials said the pavilion should be open by mid-summer 2018.
The Levitt Foundation has 22 stages around the country, transforming underutilized parks into free concert venues. This location is on Dave Hall Plaza, and officials said the mission is to create and develop gathering spaces that result in stronger, healthier and interconnected neighborhoods.
